families in Essaouira, Morocco, the heart of the Argan Oil Biosphere. La Bedouine Argan Oil is ground by the women in these families using traditional stone querns; the oil is never factory-processed, thus its limited supply.

La Bedouine’s hand-ground Argan Oil is a lightweight, “dry” oil that is extraordinarily nutritive. It is 80% fatty acids and rich in Vitamin E tocopherols (twice the amount as olive oil) which raise the skin’s anti oxidant levels, carotenes known to rectify sun damage, squalene which protects the skin against free radicals, and ferulic acid, a skin cell regenerator.

La Bedouine purchases pure 100% organic Argan Oil directly from Berber women and their families who live near the village of Essaouira.  These families harvest the nuts from the nearby Argania spinosa trees, and in the tradition of their ancestors produce the oil insmall quantities exclusively for La Bedouine; they are not commercial producers. Our direct relationships with these families guarantee the absolute purity and integrity of our Argan Oil and Mousse d’Argan, a product of the Argan Oil-making process. On a regular basis, our Moroccan manager Martine Brevard purchases the Argan Oil at their rural farmhouses . There, Martine ensures that the oil is hand-pressed from start to finish, and the jugs are hand-filled. Several times a year, La Bedouine’s founder and president Judith Reitman-Texier personally visits. We pay these families directly and equitably. We never buy from cooperatives as we cannot ensure that their oil is 100% hand-pressed and pure, and we never buy from factories.
